The long way home
Songs with a little dirt under their nails.
Robert Dean Farley creates and releases original music rooted in the traditions of the American South.
His debut album, American Musical Gumbo, blends country, rock, blues, soul and Americana into a collection of heartfelt songs shaped by a lifetime of real experiences.
He grew up on the back roads of the American South, rooted in Mississippi Delta blues traditions and Americana storytelling. The result is music with a lived-in point of view — songs that know the difference between a hard truth and a pretty lie.
“I don't write songs. I write confessions.”
— Robert Dean Farley
A plain-spoken songwriter making room for the whole gumbo: country, blues, folk, soul, and the stories of everyday folks.
